About MycoNurseries

MycoNurseries is a registered non-profit dedicated to promoting sustainability through fungiculture. We upcycle used coffee grounds to grow oyster mushrooms in our lab space, vermicompost, and educate the community through experiential learning and resources.

Outcomes of MycoNurseries

MycoNurseries has so far diverted over 75kg of spent coffee grounds to grow over 23kg of oyster mushrooms. Of the mushrooms we’ve grown, over 6kg have been donated to food-insecure individuals through our partners at SNAC McGill. We’ve also engaged over 100 youth in 400+ hours of experiential learning, including through our mushroom-growing programs and workshops. Along the way, we’ve sourced $35,000 CAD in grant funding.
